In initial iterations of the game trailers, the animals were always depicted in a realistic manner, as was much of everything else. But at the same time, a question was constantly being pondered: how to give the game its own unique characters and make it visually identifiable?
The answer came with the core ideas behind the game and trailers. MIRRABOOKA: DREAMTIME is a game project about the vast and highly enriched Aboriginal culture, about the people and the country they live in. Since aboriginal arts are already presenting animals with powerful cultural symbols, what if we combine the two into one, realistic animals whose hides display aboriginal art patterns? Thus the art direction of the animals in the game universe was decided. It's planned to further push art design in this direction and expand it to characters, environments and objects, creating a highly distinctive artistic game style.
