The Rainbow Serpent is one of the most important Dreamtime beings, as it is said to be responsible for the world’s very creation. This is a gigantic and colorful snake who has supernatural abilities, so don’t be surprised if you see a huge shiny snake flying in the night sky. In MIRRABOOKA: DREAMTIME, Mirrabooka will encounter the serpent several times, each time with a message so crucial as to change both the fates of himself and Alinta.
Tiddalik the Frog is said to be a huge frog with an insatiable thirst for water. Because of this, he drinks all the water of the world and leaves the other denizens in desperation. When Mirrabooka is confronted by the dire situation, he has to find the most ingenious way to make the frog give back what it has stolen.
In MIRRABOOKA: DREAMTIME, Tiddalik’s colors change over time, a reflection of its interactions with Mirrabooka and the environment.
The brothers are once skillful hunters who roam the land; yet during one particular hunt, they run into a raging bushfire and have no choice but to seek refuge at the top of a nearby hill, before turning into the pointer stars to escape the flames. During his quest, Mirrabooka will see the brothers at least twice, first during a live experience of their story, then as mirage figures during Mirrabooka’s final escape with Alinta.
These mysterious figures descend from the sky world to the earth below. When they land at night, they bring with them fire for lighting purposes, whose hitherto absence in the earthly realm leaves the denizens in darkness. Mirrabooka will be asked by the same denizens to help obtain the dancing source of light, but it turns out to be no easy task as the heavenly figures do not wish to share their secret wealth. Mirrabooka will need to utilize all his wisdom to overcome the problem.
Back in the Dreamtime, it is the goannas rather than the snakes who have venom. But that is about to change when one particular Black Serpent is tasked with depriving a giant Goanna of its powerful weapon. Now, Mirrabooka will relive the moment during his adventure, and assist the Black Serpent’s daring effort as best as he can, in exchange for the latter’s gratitude and knowledge.
Brogal is a beautiful woman whose beauty attracts unwanted attention from a Dust Devil, forcing her to become a bird to rid of her relentless pursuer. Mirrabooka will bear witness to the dramatic escape and transformation and make a decision quickly if he is to help out. But there is more to this episode, as the Rainbow Serpent’s unannounced advent soon shows.
The pigeons have love just as people do, even if sometimes their love ends in tragedy. Mirrabooka may well have been amazed by the brightly red Waratah flowers on his way to find Alinta, and he will learn how the originally white flowers gain their current hue through the tragedy of a pair of pigeons. And to see it, Mirrabooka will need more than his legs to catch up.
The behemoth of the sea is in possession of something vital to other denizens of the Dreamtime, and Mirrabooka and his tribesmen can’t help aiding those denizens in need. When the waves are settled and the ripples disappear, will the whale make its return over the horizon?
